Haunted Shrewsbury DAY TWENTY FOUR – Darwin Shopping Centre

A well-known local ghost story tells the tale of a milk-woman who was charged with selling watered down milk and was often seen in the dead of night, walking along Raven Meadows, or Lady Studley’s Diche as it was once known, constantly pleading her innocence by repeating

"Weight and measure sold I ever
Milk and water sold I never"

You can only ever see her from the knees upwards and it is thought that this is due to road level having been raised since she died. So what has this got to do with a modern shopping centre? Well the centre backs on to Raven Meadows and during the construction of the centre she may have bin disturbed as several builders reported seeing her.

Pop in tomorrow if you can when you (and your legs) may be pleased to hear that we are staying put. oh! and dunna have nightmares.
